Planning on Revamping Demo and Itch.io Page!
Hello hello everyone. I hope you're doing well in these trying times.
I saw a blog post not too long ago about not allowing your first project to be the one you love the most or the one you're most passionate about. Hy Cafe is a baby of mine, something really close to my heart, so I've spent some time agonising over it but I've come to a conclusion!
I've realised I want more eyes on this thing, I want to spread it to others because I genuinely think the storyline and characters could touch a lot of people. Considering I'm Black and my MC is too, I considered reaching out to Blerdy Otome, a renowned otome game reviewer, to spread the word some more but I came to the conclusion I'm not happy enough with the game as is to show her this. So I'm going to focus my attention on the demo and revamping it!
I've had some attention drawn to typos, sharp changes in the background style; the GUI is not inspiring and I'm in the middle of updating most of the sprites anyway. I'm still very proud of the first demo as the first thing I've ever made to publish, something that could genuinely be played standalone but I believe really strongly in my ability to grow. So, as I work on the first dates of the main game, I'll be shunting more attention to making the demo something I can email to reviewers.
Here's the planned roadmap!
- Update the GUI to something that suits the theme
- Update the sprites to match my current art style better
- Correct all the typos that I've been alerted to (and the ones I haven't seen yet)
- Update the menu image
- Update the website with a "meet the butlers" and "meet the protagonists" section
- Update the itch.io page as a whole.
This might take a minute to do but I wholeheartedly believe that this will be for the best of this project and my own capability as a dev. I'll keep you all updated as time goes on :) Be sure to check out the page from time to time as changes will be posted.
Noodle out!
